Hotel David Whitney, Autograph Collection, hotel in Detroit

Located in the David Whitney building in downtown Detroit, this hotel features a bar and lounge for guests to relax, a fitness centre and free high speed WiFi.

Staying at the hotel is not just functional or practical - it becomes part of the experience of being on holiday in Detroit. It is the kind of builing you'd want to visit or wander around in when exploring the city, so being able to stay there overnight as part of a city trip is just fantastic. And as a hotel it is top notch. The corner room I had was massive, with high ceilings, and very luxurious. Given that still larger rooms are available., I suspect it would be a great hotel for a family stay. The room was also very quiet - you see the city but do not hear it at all. Check in and check out were a breeze. It is centrally located and close to public transport, so perfect as a base to explore the city.

Detroit is becoming a revitalized city with many great restaurants, sporting venues and entertainment venues. Very walkable and increased transit system would make this the perfect city to visit. It's so good to see the re-birth of the buildings and the businesses making this a city vibrant and attracting more visitors each year.

Detroit is a beautiful place to visit.

Detroit is a beautiful place to visit. Most people are relatively friendly. I had no problems, other than the place that I stayed. They had mice and it was a dead mouse in the sink on the second day. The person managing the property came in while I wasn't there. I couldn't cook my Thanksgiving dinner because there was no dining table. So my family had to eat with our plates in our laps. I was told to give a good review and they would give me back half of my money. They lied! I have text messages and pictures.

Detroit has come a long way from what it used to be.

Detroit has come a long way from what it used to be. There is a lot to do around the city. With the Q-line and the people mover being a mode of free transportation, it is much easier to get around if you can park just outside of the downtown area

This is an Okay hotel, good enough for a night - go at the game or at the concert and call it a night! Front desk ladies super accommodating and welcoming. Sheets were clean, and yes the rooms smell like cigarettes but please… this is Detroit! Keep your expectations in the same level of the money you pay. I would definitely go back again. Innovative new hotel chain. Each room is a nicely appointed studio apt. Very clean and comfortable, and staff if helpful and friendly. This property is in the beautifully restored Book Building in downtown Detroit, which has undergone significant revitalization. I highly recommend trying this hotel, you won’t be disappointed.

Superb location right smack downtown. Furnishings were modern and very clean. Detroit isn't as unsafe as the media / rumours make it out to be, but you'd feel assured with 24/7 security on-site. Convenient (paid) parking located right across the road that also has 24/7 security. It has a good fitness center on the second floor.

From the moment, we arrived, Dwayne at the front desk was very pleasant and provided some great recommendations for food spots, the bartender was nice. Alvin was helpful with fixing the drain in our room. The hotel was in close proximity of Comerica & Ford Field. I will be staying here next time I’m in Detroit.
